Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation Continues Investment in Black Communities with Latest Round of Community Grants

Los Angeles, CA — The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF) announced today its latest round of grants totaling $4 million to support community-based initiatives advancing racial equity, justice, and community empowerment. This announcement reaffirms the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to investing in Black communities globally, while it continues to navigate legal disputes that unfortunately divert significant resources from its core charitable mission.

Since 2020, the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation has given over $40 million to 70 unique organizations, and given over $1.5 million in individual microgrants and scholarships via the Student Solidarity Fund and pandemic-era Survival Fund.

The Foundation will award funds across its key program pillars to support organizations and initiatives creating sustained, meaningful impact in Black communities, as it continues to advance its mission while managing several challenges, including the latest lawsuit filed by a former board member removed from the board in September.

“Funding and supporting community leaders is at the core of what we do. Despite ongoing legal distractions, our commitment to Black communities has not wavered,” said Cicley Gay, BLMGNF Board Chair. “Every dollar we are forced to spend on legal defense is a dollar taken from the people we serve, but we remain steadfast in our mission to uplift, empower, and invest in the communities that need it most.”

The BLM Foundation has maintained an active presence in communities across the nation through meaningful partnerships and direct service:

  • Turkey Drives providing meals and support to communities during the Thanksgiving season, including families living in the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA)
  • Holiday Givebacks delivering toys, gift cards, and holiday assistance to children and families in need, along with partners such as the Southside Boys and Girls Club, Southern Queens Park Association, House of Dawn, and the Fab 5 Foundation
  • Ongoing partnerships and community engagement efforts supporting Black communities in the U.S. and abroad, including collaborations with Excite All Stars and Daughters Beyond in New Orleans, the GrassROOTS Community Foundation’s initiatives in Jamaica, and wellness and water projects that now provide clean running water to over one million people across Africa

The BLM Foundation remains focused on its founding mission, working inside and outside of the system to heal the past, re-imagine the present, and invest in the future of Black lives through policy change, investment in our communities, and a commitment to arts and culture.

“Our work continues because the need continues,” said D’Zhane Parker, BLMGNF Senior Director and Board Member. “We will not be deterred from our mission. These grants represent real investment in real communities, and that work will always be our priority.”
