Centering Blacktivisim
After the 90th #Oscars, during which Andra Day and Common performed “Stand Up For Something” and centered activists and movements from across the world, the Black Lives Matter Global Network released this powerful new video about our Network, our chapters, and our larger movement.
We must reckon with the fact that we live in a world where Black activism is often not deemed as heroic and is in many cases actually interpreted as unpatriotic, as seen from Rosa Parks to Bree Newsome.
We work to shift these narratives, and to make it clear that Black activism has not only helped to build the foundation of democracy in this country, but has actually been the vanguard to protect what power the people have. Now is the time to step into action; everyone can be involved in the profound change that will come. Join us. #ThankBlacktivism #StandUp4Blacktivists #BlackLivesMatter
It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
We must love each other and protect each other.
We have nothing to lose but our chains.
