BLM Global Network Foundation Condemns Violence Directed at Asian-Americans

Patrisse Cullors, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF), released the following statement in response to the increased harm and violence directed toward Asian-Americans:

“We are deeply saddened by the coordinated attack and killing of the six Asian women in Atlanta last night. The surge of attacks against Asian-Americans across the country during recent weeks, and since the start of the pandemic is white supremacy at work. For the attacks to not be explicitly deemed racially motivated is appalling.

“We must hold the shooter involved accountable, and as a society, condemn the misinformation campaign that fueled the hatred directed toward Asian-Americans. The first step toward healing and justice is in acknowledging the root cause of these attacks.

“When we call for the eradication of white supremacy, we are saying that our Asian siblings, and every other marginalized racial group, deserves to be freed from violence, intimidation, and fear. None of us are free until we all are, and we are diligently working toward our collective liberation and freedom.”
