The Provocateurs is a creative video series produced by Black Lives Matter Art +Culture. The series features established artists and creatives from all fields who create within a politically radical framework. Artists will give 12 min TED- style talks about their practice and journey as a provocative Black Artist. The Provocateurs will be filmed live at California African American Museum on November 16, 2017 in conjunction with the exhibition We Wanted a Revolution: Black Radical Women, 1965–85. The Provocateurs is a gift to the network. BLM members will be invited to a VIP reception to dialogue with our featured artists. Our intention is to inspire the creative minds of our movement to create more expansive radical Black art. Artists featured include: Emory Douglas, Lynnée Denise, Maren Hassinger, Shamell Bell and Miss Prissy, Sarah Jones, Stacey Ann Chin and more. The project features folks from BLM Detroit, Toronto, Cambridge, Los Angeles and San Diego.
